While there is something sentimental about redesigning old jewellery pieces that may have otherwise been left in your jewellery box, there is something about designing a brand new piece entirely from scratch that sparks a different level of excitement.

Ellinor recently designed an engagement ring from scratch for one client using 100% high-end new materials. The result? A one-of-a-kind ring that perfectly embodied the recipient! Being an engagement ring, Ellinor worked with her client, Robyn’s, partner throughout the design process. At the same time, Ellinor just so happened to be working with Robyn on another piece, which Ellinor says made the engagement ring design process all the more exciting.
“I had to weigh every word I said to not let on that I knew her partner’s name, that they had an anniversary coming up (a potential date for the proposal) and so on and so on. She even remarked how she hoped he would contact me – and I did my usual lofty answer about nothing, to make it seem like I was unaware of all of this…”
Because Ellinor had been working with Robyn for a right-hand shortly prior, she knew that Robyn loved a wavy design, but had decided it was not suitable for the size of diamonds she already had and the kind of piece she was looking to create with her repurposed stones. Since she had been drawn to that design, when Robyn’s partner approached EVStenroos to design an engagement ring, Ellinor presented the partner with the wavy shapes that she knew Robyn loved. From there, they developed the original design idea from something that was “practical”, to something more radiant with high quality diamonds and a gorgeous sapphire – a stone that Robyn had expressed her love for over Instagram previously.
Being able to create the perfect custom designed piece of jewellery specifically for a client always goes closely hand in hand with learning to know the wearer; discovering how the owner wants to wear their jewellery, how it should feel to become a natural part of their life.
